case study: branding for banger overland and outdoors

Discover how we partnered with Banger Overland and Outdoors to build a strong, cohesive brand identity from the ground up. From initial discovery and research to the development of a compelling brand visuals, we brought the idea of a new company to life and gave it legs.

Dive in to the step by step journey of creating a brand that stays true to its ownership while standing out in the overland and outdoors industry.

After our one-hour discovery call, we uncovered two opposing concepts that illustrated where Banger wanted to take it’s company. One more hippie road trip with a touch of Western US and the other “alpha-energy” and more masculine feeling.

At first, the company was torn between what ideal client to cater to - the family that enjoys camping vacationing outdoors together or the hunter/fisherman overlander who’s probably an ex-marine. Both mood board options were approved and we moved into creating the logo suites for these concepts.

the challenge? Both options needed to incorporate a flashbang.

SUPPORTING BRAND ILLUSTRATIONS

We ultimately landed on Concept 1, but Banger wanted to take their branding package to the next level. Pulling imagery from our initial discovery call, we created some on-brand illustrations to use throughout their marketing as well as on merchandise for their shop.

From hand drawn skulls and American-made weapons to landscapes and cowboy inspired layouts, we made sure to stick to our guns and bring the high-octane Banger energy to their merch line.

overcoming perfectionism: iphone photography for websites

We always suggest having professional photography of your products or services before building and launching your website, but say let’s say you’re not there yet on the to-do list. Rest assured, there are solutions for every marketing problem.

With Banger, we didn’t have professional shots of their merchandise yet and we had a last minute timeline shift. We needed to publish their site before a brand launch party they were hosting in a few days. All of their merch was ordered and set up beautifully in their shop, but they had no way to sell their products without a live website and coordinating product images.

We did however have a few quick snaps from an iPhone. We took these shots, removed the backgrounds and placed them on new brand appropriate backgrounds for a quick fix. The result? A successful launch party with better-than-anticipated sales.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes when things aren’t perfect I find myself hesitating to publish. And I get it, we don’t want to launch a mediocre product. But, just because things aren’t “perfect” (which doesn’t exist), they can still be good.

Stick with Weird Hand Creative and we’ll overcome the fear of perfectionism one pixel at a time.
